This renovation of an interior designer's home in New Farm, a hip district in Brisbane, Australia is boho at its best. The basin washstand alone is a vignette in great design and incorporates 3 of our favourite design elements.

Firstly no vanity - instead a simple frame drawing on wash stand references. Open facing is stylish and practical, and the wicker basket just works so well.

Secondly offset subway tiles. We love subway, but getting the look right gets harder as fewer tilers know how to tile straight edge tile. The offset - so no vertical lines - is a great design and the floor to ceiling layout is authentic and practical.

Thirdly the asymmetrical mirrors. It takes some conviction to hang different mirrors, or any other decorative element that defies convention, but this works so well in this room.
