Similarly, a single ended traditional clawfoot bath tub with roll top rim will tend, in general, to have tap holes drilled at one end.  The "tap hole end" of the bathtub will tend to be flatter and without the roll top rim, thus allowing for the taps to be mounted directly onto the bath tub.

Some traditional Slipper Style Clawfoot Bath Tubs will have tap holes drilled on the roll top rim.  In this case, the tap holes will tend to be drilled on the lower section of the bath, and not on the raised back platform.  In this case, the taps would be mounted onto the bath tub.
